Women’s Lodge Director
Marie coordinates, monitors, and supervises the Friendship House Lodge housing program for American Indian women and their children.
She assures the quality of program services focused on women in treatment and their children in a compassionate and culturally appropriate manner. Marie carries special ties to the Women’s Lodge. As a little girl, her grandmother served as a substance abuse counselor. Marie completed her Master of Legal Studies in Indigenous People’s Law at the University of Oklahoma and plans to use her education to bring visibility to the struggles of American Indians in Urban settings. Born and raised in the East Bay, Marie found a connection to the Urban Native community at the Intertribal Friendship House where she served as a Board Member for 12 years. Marie also worked as a case manager for the Washoe Tribe, Native TANF program at the San Francisco office.
