Board Vice President

Solis was born and raised in the Bay Area (Hayward, CA) Indian Community. Growing up, Solis remembers attending Pow-Wows, participating in the Hintil Kuu CA Pomo Dance Group, playing many years with the Oakland Grasshoppers soccer team, and working in the Inter-Tribal Friendship House food booths and gift shops with his parents, who both served on the Board. Solis received a Bachelor’s degree in Native American Studies / Ethnic Studies and a minor in Education from UC Berkeley.  Solis has worked at the Native American Health Center in the Youth Services Program for many years before returning to Cal to receive a Master’s Degree in Social Welfare. Solis worked for ten years at the Alameda County Social Services in the Department of Children and Family Services as a Child Welfare Worker. Currently, Solis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Casey Family Programs, which is the nation's largest operating foundation focused on safely reducing the need for foster care.
